Check out what's on my Game Radar, the game Vanquish coming this fall.

Vanquish is a game that sort of propped up for me that I was not really expecting. Set for release this October for the PS3 and the Xbox360, Vanquish looks to be like an awesome 3rd person shooter thrill ride. Just from the trailers it seems like a cross up of Metal Gear Solid meets Crysis or even something like Kamen Rider.  What probably struck me the most about the game is its very sleek looking armour design and striking visual effects like the motion blur. Furthermore, you really get a sense of game’s speed while watching the trailer. This game seems to be running on high-octane constantly. The pace seems not only fast but fluid, flipping into cover, and back stepping away from enemies almost seamlessly.

The game is being developed by PlatinumGames the people behind Bayonetta and Infinite Space. The game is being directed by Shinji Makami the creator of Resident Evil (if you care?).

In Vanquished you play as Sam Gideon a member of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in a future when the United States is (yet again) “VS-ing” off with the Russians in a struggle for the planets scarce resources. The game is basically a really fast paced 3rd person cover based shooter where you’ll face off with robotic enemies and giant mechs. Luckily for Sam, he’s equipped with a powerful mech suit called the Augmented Reaction Suit (ARS) which one of its abilities is he can get a super boost in speed and unleash deadly melee attacks.

The game seems to be deeply narrative based, this is when the whole thing feels like Metal Gear Solid from its character design, voice-acting and even the military and political centric plot.

The only negative thing I could contemplate would be how good the controls will feel. I’m hoping it will not have that Resident Evil ‘clunky’ feeling control scheme.
